Experience
Mark Jeske - Owner
18 years in the Industry
In 1992, Mark started in the die industry right out of school working in a steel rule die shop.   In later years he worked several years as a plant manager of a large die-cutting and bindery finishing house (Schreiber Specialties) in Wisconsin, where he learned how to run dozens of diecutting and bindery equipment .   He also worked two years as a manager of a carton plant’s 2nd shift die-cutting dept. (Beck Carton, now called Proteus Packaging), learning how to setup blankers, strippers and Bobst presses.   He worked those jobs in between working at steel rule die making shops and learned a good lesson in what the end user die-cutting companies needed from his dies from a diecutters point of view .

After helping a die shop in Wisconsin start up it’s business, he decided to venture off on his own with one customer’s promise to get their work. In April, 2001 he opened SRD and built the business on the " normal" things such as fast turn-a-round, price and customer service,
but that wasn't the key to success.   The success of SRD's growth, he mentioned, is that he primarily added and kept customers because he talked “turkey” or their same language in die cutting and bindery skills with them.   He had that special hands on experience that many die shops lack.   As he added employees to his operation, they either had experience or he sent them off to be trained on die cutting presses so that they could appreciate the cutting from the end users point of view.

Mark's favorite part of this business is helping customers:
  • Teaching them about new products and innovations that develop in the industry.
  • Having routine meetings with customers to help them develop better and faster diecutting operations.
  • He welcomes and enjoys teaching customers that are new to the industry how to setup their diecutting facility, purchase new equipment and run their equipment if they need any assistance.
  • Mark thrives on making those difficult jobs easier and working with the customer to make the impossible, possible.
